Glenview, IL Wedding Photography ~ Carolyn & Chad
Carolyn and Chad are one of those couples that just make sense. The way they look at each other, the way they laugh together, the way their eyes tear up when their friends and family share their joy and approval… Their love for each other is undeniable.
Carolyn and Chad met up with their friends and family near Carolyn’s hometown in the suburbs of Chicago to be joined in marriage. They couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful spring day, as the sun shone down on the springtime flowers surrounding their ceremony and reception at The Grove. Carolyn’s family went above and beyond to show Chad’s family, who traveled from Texas, that “Northern Hospitality” exists too! The champagne was toasted, smiles were exchanged with tears of joy, and Carolyn and Chad were blessed with a beautiful wedding celebration. Congrats and may you live a long, happy life together, Carolyn and Chad!
Chicago, IL Rehearsal Dinner Photography ~ Carolyn & Chad
On the eve of their wedding, Carolyn and Chad met up with their friends and family in Chicago for their rehearsal dinner at Blackbird. It was a grande reunion of friends and family who traveled from all over the world to celebrate their marriage. Chad’s relatives’ wine from their vineyard in Germany (Weingut Iselin) served as the perfect compliment to Blackbird’s delicious four course menu. It was a very special night and a perfect introduction into their wedding weekend. Check back soon to see their beautiful Chicago wedding!
Jackson, MI Wedding Photography ~ Kesley & Noah
Noah and Kelsey’s wedding day was such a blast and was truly full of tears and laughter… from the flow of tears during speeches, to the impossible not to laugh at “awkward photo poses” the bridal party was so determined to capture! I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing Noah and Kelsey grow as a couple since the beginnings of their relationship back at Central Michigan University. At their wedding, I felt more like a proud older brother than a photographer, as they have become such a beautiful couple and I’m honored to have been a part of their wedding celebration. Congrats and stay awesome, Noah & Kelsey!

A Look Back at 2012 ~ Engagement Sessions
As the 2013 wedding season kicks off I can’t help but get excited thinking about what this year will bring! I am so ready to spend my summer in this beautiful corner of northern Michigan sharing and capturing smiles and laughter with my clients and their loved ones. Before jumping in to 2013, let’s take a quick look back at some highlights from last summer’s engagement sessions.
Charlevoix, MI Photo Booth ~ Castle Farms Vendor Party!
Castle Farms threw a rockin’ party this weekend for all of their preferred vendors. The lovely ladies of the Castle had the brilliant idea of spicing up the party with some photo booth action, so that’s what we did! Big thanks to Grey Gables, Pigs Eatin’ Ribs, BJ’s Catering, and A Matter of Taste for bringing the munchies! It was great to be able to get together with all the vendors before we kick off the 2013 wedding season. See y’all this summer!

Charlevoix, MI Wedding Photography ~ Meghan & Kenny
Meghan and Kenny had a wonderful winter wedding at Castle Farms in Charlevoix, Michigan! Light snow fell all day as the wedding party and family prepared to bring Meghan and Kenny together in marriage. A beautiful harp rendition of “Clair de Lune” was played as they held hands on the alter, as a perfect soundtrack to their beautiful wedding day. Then, the celebration was on!! Congrats, Meghan & Kenny!

Charlevoix, MI Engagement Session ~ Noah & Kelsey
Noah and Kelsey made the trip up to Charlevoix for a winter engagement session. They couldn’t have picked a better day, as it ended up being a beautiful sunny day, which doesn’t happen too often this time of year! Noah and Kelsey are good friends of mine from our days at CMU. They are such a great couple and I can’t wait to be a part of their wedding day this spring!
Boston, New York City, Hawaii ~ Travel Photography
Back in December I went on a trip to Boston, New York City, and Hawaii to shoot sessions, visit friends and family, and take a break from Michigan’s winter weather! I had such a blast visiting friends that I hadn’t seen in ages, exploring new places, and of course, documenting my trip along the way. After all, it pays to have friends in such cool places!
First stop, Boston for Wes and Kara’s engagement session! Check it out here.
When I was out in Boston, Wes was perfecting the production process for his Phidias Gold toy, which is now for sale on the Phidias Gold web store!

Next stop, New York City to visit my cousin Collin and my good friend Jeremiah.

My unofficial office away from home… WeWork!
Hawaii at last! I hadn’t seen these two in about 5 years and I can’t think of a better place to have caught up with them. Funny story… Erwin and Christina were both unaware that the other was living in Honolulu until I came out to visit!

I took an afternoon to cruise around Oahu checking out filming locations from the show “Lost”. Above is the beach where they filmed the pilot episode and below is the YMCA camp they used for the others’ village, a.k.a. “New Otherton”.
I happened to be visiting Hawaii during the Billabong Pipemasters surf competition on the North Shore of Oahu. Pro surfers came from around the world to ride the North Shore’s famous Banzai Pipeline.

Big thanks to Wes, Kara, Collin, Jeremiah, Erwin, Aude, and Christina for an amazing journey!
Boston, MA Engagement Photography ~ Wes & Kara
My good friends Wes and Kara invited me out to Boston for their engagement session and I jumped on the opportunity to go out East! Wes and Kara are such a fun couple and we had a blast roaming around the city during the session. Wes and I go way back… so far back that he designed my band’s logo in High School! These days he’s out in Boston working as an illustrator for Converse, freelancing for Nike, and growing his own company, Phidias Gold. Check out the look book we shot for last year’s Phidias Gold line here! Wes and I collaborating is by no means a new thing, but this time we took it to a whole other level by adding Kara into the picture, celebrating their engagement! I couldn’t be happier for Wes and Kara and I can’t wait to help them celebrate their wedding this summer.
Be sure to check out all the cool things Wes and his brother Ryan are doing with their company Phidias Gold here!
Also, check out Wes’ mad illustration skills here!

Mackinaw City, MI Wedding Photography ~ Carolyn & Mike
I couldn’t have asked for a better finale to the 2012 wedding season than Carolyn & Mike‘s beautiful wedding at the Headlands in Mackinaw City. I had been looking forward to working with Carolyn and Mike ever since meeting them for their engagement session last summer at Mike’s family’s up north cabin. They are a great couple and their chemistry is undeniable! Congrats, Carolyn and Mike!
